82-year-old woman donates part of her pension to help animal shelters

Many people are not indifferent to the fate of homeless animals, but they do not have the opportunity to take everyone to them. To the best of their abilities, sometimes kind and friendly people come up with different ways to help pets. One resident found an interesting way to help. Blagoveshchensk, Amur region. Raisa Georgievna is an 82-year-old pensioner who helps the local shelter “Salvation Island”. She has been a volunteer for more than 20 years. She tries to improve the conditions of animals, takes care of them, helps employees. Her journey began with the sewing of sofas.

Thanks to Raisa, the old street cats have soft beds. At the shelter, she even has her own conditional workshop: she comes there, sews rags and stuffs ready-made pillows. She not only sews, but also helps employees in everything, takes care of dogs and puppies. “I’ve loved animals since I was a little girl. Once I got to the shelter and asked how I could help, many years have passed since then, but I still help the animals,” Raisa explained.

“I help them with their retirement. I don’t care about money for animals. Of course, I cannot walk with dogs, because I have no strength. In general, my heart bleeds when I think that animals have to spend the night alone, so at least on a soft! ” – continued the pensioner.
