72-year-old pensioner swam across the ocean in a barrel for 122 days. And here is what for

The 72-year-old Frenchman in 2019 did something out of a series of fiction – he swam across the Atlantic Ocean in a barrel.

The journey that Jean-Jacques Savin made is a real adventure.

The man built the barrel himself, its length is 3 meters, and the width is slightly more than 2 meters.

It is as tall as a man, but the weight of this unit is 450 kilograms.

He has fully equipped his capsule from the inside.

And he began to carefully study the directions of currents and wind for the next few days of his voyage.

Inside the barrel there are all conditions for living: a sleeping place, a sink, drawers with kitchen utensils. Jean-Jacques even made small portholes to be aware of everything that is happening around.

But the most interesting thing is that this barrel had no sail, no motor, no steering wheel.

It was just rushing with the current depending on the movement of the wind.

The plan was to sail from the Canary Islands to the Caribbean.

The man expected that his journey would last about three months, but in the end he swam for 122 days, almost four months.

Why was all this necessary?

As Jean-Jacques says, he just loves the sensations he experiences when traveling.

He was able to test his strength and prove to everyone around him that if there is a desire to be happy, age is not a hindrance here.
