An 18-year-old boy who adopted his four orphaned brothers and sisters, shared his story

Vyacheslav Yalov became their guardian to save the children from the orphanage.

Now he is the head of a large family.

The war took almost everything from him.

But he found the strength to continue living and helping others like him.

Vyacheslav’s younger brothers and sisters are 16, 11, 10 and 8 years old.

The war overtook a family in the village of Verkhnetoretskoye, Donetsk region: on March 15, a mother and son were returning home when two shells exploded 10 meters away from them.

The boy was stunned. The mother died from the injuries.

When Vyacheslav returned home, the younger children understood him without words.

That evening, his brother decided to take the family to a safe place.

Their mother was an orphan and had no relatives, so Vyacheslav took custody of his younger brothers and sisters.

Drohobych has become a new city for the family to live in.

The large family lives in a hostel and receives support from the authorities and caring ordinary people.

Vyacheslav also says that they have savings because they worked hard.

Children help to hold on.

Our hero is actively preparing to enter the university.

He wants to enter a higher education institution and study medicine or foreign languages.

The mother’s dream was to provide all children with access to a good education.

She also asked to always be family people and support each other.

While there is an opportunity, we must help.

“I believe in karma,” says Vyacheslav, who wants to start his own foundation.
