Back to the sky thanks to the wonderful vet

Catherine Apuli is a vet, and lately she had a very exceptional operation. Her patient was a young female red-tailed parrot. The fact is that the previous hosts cut off the parrot’s wings so that she could not fly. As a result, his attempts to take off ended in a fall.

The parrot was getting bruises, and her owner noticed that it hurt the bird to stand on its paws. Injuries to the flight feathers, in this case pruning, can cause pain, bleeding, be reason for aggressive behavior and self-plucking.

Fortunately, the good Doctor Apuli helped the bird. To begin with, the doctor put the bird into an artificial sleep. “The feathering was done to prevent further injury and restore flight to mental and physical health.” “The feathers were donated to the clinic. Before the operation, each pen was cleaned and sterilized.” “The base of the pen was cut off so that a toothpick could be inserted into it and glued.”

Then the bird was put under light anesthesia. So it was possible to immobilize her and perform the procedure. “Now that the parrot has finally learnt to keep herself in the air she does not fall to the ground anymore.”
