Identical twin boys were born with completely different skin tones

These mixed-race boys are actually twins – despite the fact that one has dark skin and the other is white.

While Holden Keller inherited blond hair and blue eyes from his mom, 36-year-old Amy Keller, his brother Hayden got darker skin and auburn locks from his African-American father.

Amy, who is raising 15-month-old fraternal twins on her own, was told that she expected identical twins during her pregnancy because the babies shared a placenta.

However, when the babies were born just seven minutes apart in December 2018, they had different skin tones.
The boys, born prematurely at 29 weeks in The Woodlands Medical Center, attract attention everywhere they go, and people find it hard to believe that they are in fact brothers, let alone twins.

Amy, a veterinary technician, said: Holden has blonde hair and fair skin like me – I think my family is mostly of Scandinavian and German descent, and Hayden is darker skinned like my ex-partner, he’s African American. ?Unfortunately he’s not in the picture anymore and I’m raising the twins on my own.

Amy continued: “When they were born, they were so small that I didn’t really notice that Hayden’s skin was darker after about three days.

“They were connected to many machines in the intensive care unit.

“When I realized, I thought it was funny, because all this time my doctors were convinced that they were the same.

“As they get older, their differences are so striking that sometimes people don’t even believe they are brothers.”

Amy says that apart from their looks, her sons’ personalities are also ‘so different’. Hayden is ‘absolutely fearless’ while Holden is ‘mama’s little boy’.
