Karen and James Marks thought they could never be parents. After a year of trying to conceive naturally, they went to the doctor. Doctors told Karen that she has fertility problems, so the only chance for her to become a mother is IVF, writes Metro.
As a result, the couple decided on the procedure. After a round of IVF, they received five viable embryos. One of them was implanted in Karen, and on September 1, 2018, she gave birth to a healthy son, who was named Cameron.

The rest of the embryos were frozen in case the couple wanted to have a baby again, as they did. The couple always dreamed of a big family, as well as giving Cameron a brother or sister.
We have a wonderful son, but I never wanted him to be an only child, says Karen.
In 2019, the mother decided to again implant an embryo from four frozen ones. However, she had a miscarriage. The woman did not give up and again turned to the doctors to implant one of the three remaining embryos. Then the miracle happened again.
On the same day that Cameron was conceived, but two years later, I was implanted with an embryo that was genetically considered the boy’s twin.
In 2020, on September 15, a girl was born, who was named Isabella – Cameron’s twin.
Two children are considered twins because they were conceived on the same day and at the same time, and also from the same batch of embryos, although they were implanted several years apart.
The couple does not plan to stop there. Karen and James want to use the last two embryos to have two more children. As a result, all offspring will become quadruplets. It can be said that half of their plan has already been completed.
Karen realizes that the very existence of twins with a difference in age of two years looks crazy. However, she notes that the children are not identical brother and sister, and therefore not identical.

Mom explained that the embryo tends to split – in this case, two identical fetuses can be obtained from it. If this happens with the two remaining embryos, then the couple can become parents of gears, where two pairs of children are identical twins.

At worst, Cameron will be six years old when his last twin is born. But it can happen later – they (the embryos) don’t have an expiration date, Karen said.
