The artist creates amazing figures with her hair. Here is how everything started

Laetitia Kai, an artist from Ivory Coast, creates incredible compositions from her hair, metal wire, wax and artificial strands.

Kai learned to braid her hair by the age of five — she practiced on her mother and sister.

But the girl fell in love with her natural hair not so long ago.

“Eight years ago I returned to my natural hair and then I fell in love with braiding again.

At first it was just entertainment, but over time everything changed.

I’ve seen the impact my creativity can have on people, so now I’m getting more serious.

In my works I broadcast the ideas of self-love, tolerance, equality and respect.

I do this to improve the world I live in,” says Letizia.

When the girl became interested in feminism, her creativity reached a new level.

So, in 2017, Kai joined the #MeToo movement, creating a sculpture of a man looking under a woman’s skirt out of hair.

“#MeToo is important to me as a woman, an African, as a person who has been harassed every day,” Letizia admits.

The artist asked the subscribers to contact her if they need to talk to someone.

Soon the girl began to receive a lot of messages:

“Some stories were incredibly sad, but I’m glad that at least a few people were able to speak out and open up thanks to my creativity.

These messages give me strength.”

In addition to Instagram, Letizia is now actively developing tiktok.

For example, one of the artist’s videos, in which she asked friends to come up with ideas for a hairstyle and then brought them to life, gained more than 30 million views.
