Sunny Vapkey is in business.
Four years ago, he decided to found an unusual charitable foundation.
He organizes a competition between teachers from different countries to find the best among them.
The first-place teacher receives a $1 million prize.
This year, 10,000 participants from 179 countries submitted their applications for the competition
The village in Kenya that won is in the middle of nowhere.
The village school is very poor, there are not enough many necessary subjects for teaching children.
The school has only 58 students and one teacher.
There is only one computer for all children.
Students travel long distances in order to get to classes.
The hardest way is given to them in rainy weather.
But even in such conditions, Peter manages to achieve excellent results – his students win in various scientific competitions.
Before that, Peter was a teacher at a private school.
Later, he decided to become a monk and left private school.
After his dismissal, Peter decided to help students in poorer areas.
The teacher tries to motivate his students and inspire them to believe in themselves to achieve any goals.
Peter claims that anyone will be lucky enough to find something that he really likes.
Students actively participate in the life of the school, they organize many projects. In difficult moments, creative thinking and the ability to look at the situation from different angles are especially important, Peter believes.
There are many circles at the school that allow children to develop their creative abilities and engage in scientific experiments.
Peter decided to open a „Peace Club”, where he gathers students from different faiths and different nationalities, and teaches them respect for each other and tolerance.
