For a long time, Stewart and Kirsty Baxter struggled to have children. When Kirsty finally became pregnant in 2013, it seemed like happiness had arrived. However, fate had a different plan, and they lost the baby at 19 weeks.
But soon, a miracle happened, and the couple was expecting again. The second pregnancy was successful, smooth, and without complications. When their son Riley was born, everything was wonderful. However, shortly after, the doctors surprised the new parents with the news that their son had Down syndrome.
“When they told us that Riley was sick, I cried not because I started to love him any less. I just knew how cruel this world could be.”
Despite their fears, everything turned out well. Now, Riley is attending school and brings immense joy to their lives. He even earned the affectionate nickname “Smiley Riley.”
“He paints our life with different colors even on the worst day.”
Mothercare, a prominent British brand, noticed Riley and offered him to feature in their advertising after seeing his positive attitude.
“His classmates started treating him with great respect.”
Although Riley faces challenges in muscle development, it doesn’t stop him from engaging in physical exercises and even horse riding. He also experiences difficulties with verbal speech, so his parents taught him sign language.
Riley may be a special child, but he fully enjoys life and finds immense pleasure in it. Moreover, his smile is incredibly contagious.
