We often hear about the friendship between humans and animals. Most of these stories involve dogs and cats, but there are exceptions to everything. The heroes of our today’s story have made a very unusual friend.
Many Australians have exotic animals, but even they are surprised by the pet of a local diving instructor. Rick Anderson has been diving for 27 years. According to his words, the hobby has smoothly turned into a job and he cannot live a day without immersion. In order to make the hobby profitable, Rick opened his own diving school.
More than 8 years ago, during the next dive, the diver came across a small shark, which did not exceed 16 cm in length.The diver decided to play a little with the shark and swam slowly to him. To Rick’s surprise, the little predator took it well and played a little with the man.
So the diver, diving every day, began to meet his new friend. Although the predator did not have a nickname, Rick could easily identify his pet by its characteristic color.
The shark swam up to him to cuddle him. All of Rick’s students and the other divers were shocked at first, but after a while they began to calmly accept such a friendship.
The diver categorically refrains from feeding his friend and the other sharks, as this can be dangerous. With his example of friendship with a bull shark, Rick tries to dispel the prevailing stereotype of bloodthirsty killers. The diver thinks that sharks are like dogs and that they can easily get used to their owner.
„These sharks are not aggressive at all unless you catch them by the tail. In this case, like all other animals, they will try to escape,” Anderson said. Rick’s case is not unique; there are enough similar stories in many parts of the world.
A person’s relationship with a predator is possible, and in most cases ordinary goodwill becomes a means of communication.
