Due to fraudulent actions, the spouses lost all their savings. But the police were able to restore their faith in goodness.
The Howard County Police found out about Pat’s family after an elderly couple contacted them with a crime report. According to the couple, they hired contractors to repair the roof and after the completion of the work paid them 33 thousand dollars.
They could not immediately check the roof — neither a blind old man nor an elderly woman could do it. And only later they found out that they were victims of deception.
It turned out that there was no repair – the crew simply covered the damaged parts of the roof with roofing paper and, taking the money, disappeared.
The police sympathized with the family and decided to bring to mind what the would-be workers had started. The officers changed their uniforms to overalls and, teaming up with several residents of the area, got down to business. One of Pat’s neighbors, a professional roofer, volunteered to lead the project.
After learning that police officers were doing repairs for an elderly couple for free, a local hardware store donated materials, tools and all necessary accessories to the family. The policemen worked in their spare time, but spared no effort – sympathizing with the spouses who lost all their savings because of fraudsters.
And, of course, their work was not limited to repairing the roof. The police immediately began to search for criminals, hoping to return their money to the family. The spouses themselves no longer count on this. They call what happened to them after the meeting with the scammers a “miracle” and are very grateful to the neighbors and the police for their help, because they simply would not have enough money for a new brigade.
