Liam Epps from the English city of Kent has been delivering newspapers on a bicycle for several years in his free time from school. A few weeks ago, a 15-year-old boy decided to do all the work in the morning before classes. He was driving along the usual route, scattering parcels, when suddenly, on the porch of the house where the 89-year-old old woman lived, he noticed a lot of accumulated press. After finishing work, Liam went to school, but he didn’t stop thinking about what he saw. After class, he told his mother about everything, and together with her he went to check if everything was all right with the resident of the house. Liam’s mom, Katie, knocked on the window, but no one answered. She tried several more times and finally heard a weak voice.
The old lady was lying on the floor and could not get up. She was asking for help.
The teenager immediately called the rescue service. And Katie, along with the neighbors, broke down the back door and went into the house. The woman was lying in the corner. It looked like she had fallen down the stairs. The old lady had a cut on her leg, but she could not get up not because of it, but because of the severe pain in her back. The grandmother spent several days on the floor and called for help, but no one heard her screams.
Liam, who has been delivering the press daily since 2019, knew this house and its owner. The last time he talked to her was at Christmas. The dear old lady congratulated him on the holiday and gave him money as a gift.
Paramedics took the victim to the hospital, where she was found to be confused and severely dehydrated. The woman was found very timely – according to doctors, delay could lead to disastrous consequences. Now the old lady is on the mend and will be able to return home very soon. Liam is happy that he paid attention to a stack of newspapers and was able to help an elderly woman in time — although he did not immediately figure out what to do in such an unusual situation for him. And his mother says that she did not expect anything else from her son, who grew up a good and kind boy. The teenager was also thanked by paramedics, according to whom it was Liam’s intervention that saved the grandmother’s life.
Among his friends, the boy became a real star and received many kind messages from friends who were impressed by his act.
Although the owner of the house herself gave permission to break into the doors, the residents of the district considered it necessary to organize a fundraiser for the repair of the house. At the moment, they have already managed to collect about 150 pounds. With these funds, Katie also plans to clean the carpets and buy some potted flowers to decorate the rooms for the return of the hostess.
