“This job was given to me from above”: for 34 years, a woman has raised 80 children

The 78-year-old woman’s mission began several decades ago – and continues to this day.

Last month , a resident of California , Linda Owens , had two bright events at once: she became the owner of the Jefferson Award, which is awarded to the most ordinary people for unusual merits, and took custody of her 81 child – a girl who was barely 7 weeks old. The history of guardianship began for Linda 34 years ago, when the first baby appeared in her house, who really needed kind, affectionate hands and maternal warmth. Since then, the woman has given a happy childhood to 80 children of different ages, writes People.com .

The oldest of the children Linda took care of recently turned 37.
A former grocery store worker is raising her children alone. Usually there is one child under the care of an American woman, but sometimes she provides a house for two at once. There are different cases: these are children who have developed intrauterine dependence on narcotic substances, and babies with developmental delay, and those who do not sleep at night – and with them their guardian.

The children stay with Linda until they are adopted or returned to their biological parents. And this is a difficult moment for a woman who is attached to each of her wards. Saying goodbye to a child to whom you are attached with your soul is hard. Linda kisses the baby on the forehead, wishes him all the best in life and says that she loves him.

As a guardian, Linda receives an allowance for each child, but spends her own savings on children, not skimping on buying new clothes and everything necessary.

Although many dozens of children have passed through the kind hands of Linda Owens, including three pairs of twins, she remembers the names of each of them. Sometimes they come back. So, 12 years ago, Linda took care of a little girl, who was then adopted by a woman named Erica. Saying goodbye to the baby, Linda gave a lot of useful advice to the foster mother — about what the girl likes and dislikes, how best to fall asleep. The guardian’s help continued after the baby went to live with another family. And Erica has not forgotten Linda’s kindness. Together with her daughter, she often visits a woman so that she can participate in the girl’s life.

According to Linda, she is pleased to see how beautiful the baby has grown, and to realize that she has done her job well. The American woman is devoted to her work with all her soul, considering her a “gift from above”. “It’s not an easy job,” says Linda, “but it’s definitely worth it.”
