What a kind thing to do. The homeless man gave back the $17,000 he found

Kevin Booth was homeless and lived in the US town of Sumner. For five years,
he went to a food bank there. When Bout went back there at the end of
August 2020, he saw a package near the bank gates.

When the homeless man looked inside, he saw many bills. Booth didn’t keep
the money for himself. Instead, he gave it to the people who work at the
food bank.

Anita Miller, who was in charge of the group, saw the stacks of cash and
called the police right away. After talking to Kevin, the police started an
investigation to find out where the money came from.

At that time, no crime or suicide took place, and no one filed a report
about the missing $17,000.

After 90 days, the money was ruled to have no owner and was legally given
to homeless people. Kevin gave them to the Sumner Town Food Bank instead
of keeping them for himself.

Anyone can go into the bank and take food for free or leave something for
someone else. About 1,000 people use the services of the bank each month.

Preparations are being made to give another 500 schoolchildren backpacks with
food in them. With the money that was found, the bank will be able to buy a freezer.

Bout was offered a room at the hotel, but the homeless man chose to stay in
his tent in the forest instead. But the people in charge of the bank still
gave her ration cards so she could buy food at the store.
