“Don’t look at me like that. I don’t need this child. Take it.” A stranger just handed me the baby carrier. I didn’t understand what was happening. After some time, it dawned on me that I was holding a baby.

In the morning, I usually rushed to work. There were no seats on the bus, so I stood at the corner, holding onto the handrails tightly to avoid falling during turns. That day, there were an unusually large number of senior citizens on the bus.
They sat in small groups and discussed politics. At one bus stop, a pregnant young woman entered the bus. She looked pale and could hardly stand on her feet. Her belly was so large that even someone with little knowledge of obstetrics could tell she was pregnant with twins or even triplets. Usually, someone would offer their seat in such situations, but this time, all the seats were practically occupied by seniors. The woman was clearly in distress.

The bus driver noticed her and asked the man sitting near him to give up his seat for the woman. The man, who was around fifty years old, reluctantly stood up. The driver began to ask the young mother about her well-being.

“I think I’m having contractions,” she said.

“Why didn’t you call an ambulance?” the driver asked.

“I tried, but in a panic, my phone slipped from my hands, fell, and broke. My husband is away on a business trip, so I thought I could make it by bus.”

“You need to get to the hospital urgently!” The driver apologized to the passengers and deviated from the route to take the woman to the nearest maternity hospital. No one on the bus objected. I, on the other hand, was impressed by the man’s actions.
