The guys were playing on the bank of a river in Canada when they saw that a newborn baby beluga whale, one of the varieties of whales, had washed ashore.
They figured out to dig a hole around him so that the water would gather there, and they themselves watered the poor guy with water so that the delicate skin would not dry out. They did all these activities while waiting for rescuers, who were called by their parents.
One of the rules of whale rescue is that they must lie down for at least three hours on the shore, so the echolocation would return to normal. The specialists who arrived determined that this was a very newborn female and if it were not for the boys, she would have been doomed.
After all, their newborn period lasts more than two years and they need a mother. The cub was returned back to the water to the nearest spotted flock, so that a young mother could find him, able to nurse him.
Now there are not even thousands of individuals in this place, and before it was counted in dozens. The reasons are environmental change, and poaching plays an important negative role. This species is attached to one habitat and does not change it, so they are very vulnerable.
